Abstract

This chapter explores the ethics of when to use or not to use life-support technology from a biblical perspective. It does not address medical considerations as such, for medical technology is constantly advancing. Rather, it seeks to distill biblical principles for deciding when to use such technology and when it is moral to stop therapeutic treatment and move to palliative care. This chapter provides moral principles and guidance for making difficult decisions in questions of the use of life-support and decision-making in the context of end-of-life situations.
