Stahr was an American illustrator from New York and was known for his posters, book, and magazine covers. While the exact publication date is unknown, the poster was mostly designed and published in either 1917 or 1918.This piece depicts colonial-era celebratory crowd in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA and uses an emotional appeal to patriotism towards soliciting financial support of the war effort.
