“Keep It Coming” was one of many posters issued during World War I to encourage support of the war. The poster shows a picture of supplies being sent to the troops and includes a quote from U.S. General John J. Pershing:
“We must not only feed our Soldiers at the front but the millions of women [and] children behind our lines.”
This poster was illustrated by George Illian in 1917. Illian was an American artist and illustrator. The imagery encourages the preservation of food to ensure there is enough resources for both civilians and soldiers in combat. The emphasis on preservation and the appeal made in the text of the poster suggests that there was a limited food supply and was part of a national effort to commit to wasting less food. The poster was created and reproduced as a lithograph at the time of it’s distribution.
