Description

This poster is a printed Honor Roll of the WWI soldiers from Whiteside County in Illinois. Many states passed legislation in an attempt to get up-to-date lists of those who died or fought during WWI. These rolls could contain the names, burial sites, and/or other information related to the individual. This particular honor roll contains the names of the individuals who fought and possibly died during the war from Whiteside County. The deceased, Y.M.C.A workers, Red Cross Nurses, and Salvation Army workers are indicated by marks. The bottom center section of the poster contains a separate list of the different sources that helped to compile the list of names. This poster was produced by Charles Webb & Co. and printed by The Quality Print Shop in Sterling, Illinois. The poster also states that it was to be distributed to every home in Whiteside County.
