An Applied Approach to the Undergraduate Communication Research Class

Abstract

This poster session presentation detailed my experience in designing and teaching a Communication Research class in such a way as to get students excited about social-science research The course I designed included a significant hands-on research experience to help make the class relevant and more interesting. Students' fear of conducting research dissipated as together with classmates they conducted simple research projects. Conference attendees expressed great interest in using the same basic structure to help them teach research and engage students in the research process.
