Description

Built in the early 1800s, the Thatcher Mansion, called the Old Yellow House or the Yellow Mansion, served as the first home of Southern College in its new location at Thatcher Switch. Purchased from the Thatcher family in 1916, the mansion served as a dormitory for women, kitchen, dining room, parlor, and even classroom for the first year. It was razed in 1958.
