Description

A Venetian standing cabinet made of carved walnut originally purchased by Mark Twain in Italy in August of 1878 is available for viewing in the library director's office. Mark Twain's daughter, Clara Clemens, gifted the cabinet to her distant cousin and sculptor Gladys Lewis Bush, who bequeathed it to her nephew Leland Frederick Cooley. Duane Bietz purchased the cabinet from the Cooley family and subsequently donated it to McKee Library as part of the Duane and Eunice Bietz Collection.
