Abstract
Frederick McDade is an African American Vietnam War veteran. The former professional baseball player was injured in combat, causing him to be blind and effectively ending his professional baseball career. After the war, Frederick went back to school to help deal with his blindness. With a master's degree in Social Psychology, Frederick became the school counselor at Dalton High School in Dalton, GA, and served in the position for 19 years.
