Analysis and Quantification of Jaw Bones from Hanson Ranch - Characterizing Neufeld Quarry Microsite

Presentation Type

Poster Presentation

Mentor/Supervising Professor Name

Dr. Keith Snyder

Description

The first goal of my fieldwork was to confirm which layer is producing bone material. With the help of Dr. Snyder and Rose Weeks, I confirmed it to be the first layer after dry and wet sieving the first four layers of the microsite. The second goal was to characterize the first layer to determine where the greatest bone production is. I did this by making a grid of the microsite, then dry and wet sieving the samples. After completing the initial fieldwork, I manually analyzed the samples using an objective microscope and am currently working on data input.
