Description

The purpose of this study will be to examine the relationship between masculine gender roles and their adverse impact on men seeking out mental health services. Resent research suggests that masculinity, ethnicity, gender role conflict, and self-stigma all cause a decrease in the openness to be accepting of mental health services in men. This research study will be looking at each of these variables in relation to masculine gender roles and help seeking behavior. Having this information can give insights into how counseling professionals can better understand their clients and allow for an open conversation to de-stigmatize men’s mental health.
