Description

Immersive experiences are a great way to introduce students to academic library services. A well-designed experience may relieve library anxiety by acquainting students to library spaces, introducing students to library staff, and showcasing a variety of library resources. During this time of space variability and uncertainty, it is important for libraries to engage students in immersive experiences online if they are unable to visit a library in person. This session includes a discussion of on-site immersive experiences with directions for design and examples of successful programs. The discussion is then connected to online immersive experience design and execution. The application of these concepts for the future may include any off-site academic library populations who would benefit from an interactive experience with library services.
