Description

Art History is a "modern" discipline and art theory followed suit. Theories of the discipline have been spoken of from different perspectives, but not using the Bible as primary source, through a process of comparing and contrasting. I would like to especially look at Plato and Aristotle and their influence on ancient art theory that still forms the ways we are thinking about art today. Then I will turn to Biblical sources and find similarities and differences between Greek and Jewish ways of thinking about art. Finally I would like to speak of the relevance of these philosophies which have been synchronized and passed down to us and are relevant to contemporary culture and religion.
