The purpose of this study is to explore the correlation between psychedelic drug use and individuals’ mental health. As mental health issues are extremely common, it is crucial to seek treatment. Current studies show that psychedelic drugs have the potential to treat mental health. Through surveying the available research on this topic, it is clear that that psychedelic drugs are powerful substances capable of altering aspects of the mind during intoxication.Though multiple studies have already been conducted and the results are promising, the goal is to call for further, in-depth research regarding this topic. In studying the specific effects of certain psychedelics on the mind, it is possible to discover their medicinal potential in improving mental health in patients on a larger scale.

In understanding that psychedelic drugs are illegal in nearly all 50 states, the FDA has approved multiple studies researching their medicinal potential. If the research continues to show outstanding results, the future of science may begin to fully consider psychedelic drugs as a form of natural medicine.
