Description
To better interpret UV-visible spectra displaying asymmetric irregularities for essential kinetic information, Guggenheim treatments of data across regular intervals of wavelength are applied to the absorption spectra of acid-catalyzed reaction of 3-methylcyclopentanol. The resulting observed rate constants are highly consistent and accurate at wavelengths 285 nm to 300 nm in the region of absorption spectra farther away from the asymmetric anomaly. It is anticipated that this developed method has potential as a general procedure for resolving more complex deviations in time-series absorption spectra of reactions involving cyclopentenyl and cyclohexenyl intermediates.
