The Relationship Between Fatigue and Errors Among Nurses

Presentation Type

Poster Presentation

Mentor/Supervising Professor Name

Richards, Andrew

Description

This presentation is about fatigue in nurses and how it can influence the prevalence of medical errors. Many elements within the work environment can negatively affect a nurse's health and lead to job fatigue. If nurses arrive at their shift exhausted mentally or physically, they may be more likely to make small or larger errors that could harm their patients. Our goal for this research is to find studies that show the correlation between nurse fatigue and medical errors as well as standards or interventions that can be implemented into healthcare environments to better protect their staff and patients.
