Understanding Perceptions of Healthy Relationships and Romantic Competence at a SDA University
Presentation Type
Oral Presentation
Mentor/Supervising Professor Name

Description
Research indicates that some college students experience difficult romantic relationships which negatively impact their mental health and academic progress. Given this, several universities have developed romantic competence curricula to teach students healthy relationship components and skills. Few studies have explored how students define healthy relationships, their perceived romantic competence, and what contributes to these perceptions. This research explores how college students' religious commitment, family background, and gender influence their perceptions of healthy relationships and romantic competence. Data for this study will be collected from a convenience sample of 200 undergraduate students enrolled at Southern Adventist University using an online survey.
