How Can We Experimentally Study the Collisions in the Interstellar Media?

Presentation Type

Oral Presentation

Mentor/Supervising Professor Name

Andrianarijaona, Vola

Presentation Location

On Campus

Description

Interstellar medium is a very low-density environment where particles such as H, H-, H2+, and H3+ can live long enough. The experimental studies on these particles are not synchronized with the theoretical studies despite the fact that these particles make up more than 99% of any known stellar medium. One of the reasons is that these particles are so exotic rendering any experimental study technologically very challenging. During this oral presentation, some experimental methods that are currently used to watch and follow the dances of these astrophysical particles will be presented.
