Abstract (Description of Research)

One of the unique teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the health message. This important teaching suggests that a person’s physical and spiritual health are connected such that good physical health improves one's spiritual health. This is why Seventh-day Adventists have historically promoted the avoidance of tobacco and alcohol and encouraged a more plant-based, vegetarian diet. Because of this, we hypothesize that greater religiosity among Seventh-day Adventists is associated with more plant-based diets. This study will use a survey-based, cross-sectional design to examine this relationship among undergraduate students at Southern Adventist University.
